Black was oddly one of the rarest colors in the whole mess. Margaret only really saw it with Hawkeye’s hair, and when it was truly black, she didn’t notice it, focused as she was on Frank’s brown or Trapper’s curls. In fact, the first time she realized his hair was black was when she noticed the strands of silver shot through. She mused to herself that it was a shame to lose such an uncommon color, completely failing to realize the changes being wrought in the man himself until it was too late to do more than offer a supportive shoulder.
