sarcasticsra for the beta. No idea when I wrote this.
Who the hell was the enemy—the armed boys who came in full of bullets and shrapnel and just happened to wear the wrong uniform? Who defined “enemy”, anyway? A bunch of politicians back in Washington with no idea about what was happening around the Thirty-eighth Parallel, that’s who. They didn’t see the blood, the torn bodies, the agony. All they saw was a nonexistent threat from a bunch of poor people, and their own bottom line, not to mention some indefinable difference between these sixteen-year-olds and the blond-haired kids from the States beyond skin color.
They were the real enemy.
