They were never enemies, not really. Sure, they didn’t like each other much, but who besides Margaret actually enjoyed Frank’s company? After all, the man was the world’s biggest hypocrite, and ranked among the worst surgeons on the planet, but Hawkeye and Trapper never really hated him. Frank just wanted to be liked, and when the swamp rats made an effort, they could get along with him just fine. Most of the time, though, it was easier not to make an effort. Their energy was channeled instead toward surviving hell and dragging as many boys out with them as possible. After that, who could go to the trouble of making friends, let alone enemies?
