Title: Respect
Fandom: House
Character: Chase, maybe the teensiest hint of House/Chase and Chase/Foreman
Prompt: 022. Enemies
Word Count: 105
Rating: Everyone
Author's Notes: Spoilers for “Babies and Bathwater” and “Kids”. Comes after Rewards and Shame.
It’s finally over, and Chase celebrates along with the others in House’s office. It’s an empty victory; they’ve lost Cameron, Cuddy looks fit to slaughter House, and no one has any respect left for Chase, the traitor in their midst. Wilson hasn’t bothered to hide his feelings about Chase’s defection, and even Foreman has had enough since Cameron left. The real enemy, though, is gone, and this just might mean Chase can look House in the eye again someday and even catch a slight hint of respect. That day won’t come, though, until well after Chase can look at his own reflection in the mirror.
