Red. Normally such a cheery, uplifting color, one that brightened the spirits, red was a hated color in M*A*S*H 4077. Red was blood and OR and surgery, sleepless days and barely slowing nights. Red was pain and death, breaking the spirits of its survivors and crushing those who fell. In spite of the unanimous distaste, the red kept coming. There was no way to stop it, save coping every time the tide flowed and staunching it temporarily, and then celebrating each brief ebb with drunkenness and debauchery, all intended simply to clear away the memories of the terrible, cheerful color.
