Title: Words
Author:
hawkeyecat
Fandom: House
Character: Chase
Prompt: 001. Beginnings
Community: fanfic100
Word Count: 169
Rating: Teen
Disclaimer: Pretty boy not mine.
Author's Notes: I have what some may call a “bad habit” of using my Friends list. I say it gets them fic. This prompt was chosen by
professorohki. My thanks, as always, to
sarcasticsra for the beta.
It would be nice, Chase reflected, to say it all started with a kiss. Unfortunately, that was a lie. It started with, of all things, a joke about leather stethoscopes. Only House had noticed how Chase’s face grew hot. Damned observant of him. That same observance that made House such an excellent doctor had netted him a fuckbuddy—House’s word, not Chase’s.
Chase would have gone for something more…intimate, he supposed, were it his choice. It could be as simple as lovers—
—or as complicated as master, with all its connotations.

“You think this is anything more?” A vicious tone, after Chase had flinched the first time House used the word. “You think it matters?”
Chase would have gone for something more…intimate, he supposed, were it his choice. It could be as simple as lovers—
“You do realize that implies love?” Chase hadn’t said there was on his end. There wasn’t much he could say to that casual, unthinkingly cruel tone that had followed a week of cold silence.
—or as complicated as master, with all its connotations.
“There are laws against employing slaves.” Derisive, yes, but softer than the other tones. Almost enough to give Chase hope.
