Title: Guilt
Fandom: House
Character: Chase
Prompt: 042. Triangle
Word Count: 158
Rating: Everyone
Author's Notes: Written via a phone post while driving to a petsitting job.
The three are perfect together. Without one, the other two don’t work. When Cameron quit, Chase and Foreman clashed. With her there, they were fine. They got along well; they cooperated against House—or with House, depending on the situation. But without her, Foreman turned on Chase, blamed Chase for Cameron leaving. For Cameron having to leave.
Chase knew he should have been the one to lose his job. He couldn’t stand having been the one to make Cameron quit. Yeah, it was really House’s fault—House should have made the speech. Chase knew that.
But Chase couldn’t let himself let go of the guilt. If he had simply not gone to Vogler, House could have fired him, and Cameron could have still had her job. Cameron and Foreman could have still been two points in their triangle. Chase didn’t realize that all three were needed. All three needed to form the triangle, to keep that perfect shape.
